Officers of this Colony cheerfully and efficiently discharge their duties of their respective departments to the best of their several abilities; but there is also reason for His Lordship to be assured that whatever concession he feels himself at liberty to make will be gratefully accepted, not only on account of the value of the advantage it confers; but as lending to remove a painful sense that cannot but sometimes force itself upon Colonial Officers, that their services are not appreciated by the state equally with those officers who are serving in their immediate neighbourhood.
